GCSE success paves the way for a change of career for Leicester College learner

Having not worked for four years after leaving a role in an aggressive working environment in the textiles industry, 37 year old Katherine Linley was overjoyed today to learn she has the GCSE grades to forge ahead in a new career as a Dietician.
Katherine grew despondent on leaving her role in production control to have her daughter, having not found a career that suited her. But having always held an interest in food and health she realised she would need to take relevant qualifications and enrolled at Leicester College to take GCSEs in Chemistry and Maths. On passing with flying colours gaining A grades in both, and a place on the Access to Science course at the College, she is well on her way to a place studying for a dietetics degree at Nottingham University and working in her desired career.
Katherine said: “It’s been nice to get back to learning. I struggled with chemistry at school so it has been good to get to grips with it. I used to wake up in the night worrying about work in my role in production control and now I have the confidence to do something I enjoy.”
