Graphic Design learner wins Chamber of Commerce Christmas card design competition

16/12/2010

A Leicester College BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design learner, Gurgit Dhanoa has been announced the winner of a competition to design the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce Christmas card for 2010.

The winning design will be sent to businesses across the region representing the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce.

Gurgit was presented with a £15 gift voucher and a copy of his card design by the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce President, Rick Moore.  He said: “I had a go at coming up with several designs which I entered, so I am really pleased to have won the competition.

Gurgit is in the second year of the BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design course and wants to work for a design agency when he has finished it.

Kate Drew, Leicester College Graphic Design Lecturer said: “The standard of work produced by Gurgit and the other learners on the BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design course at Leicester College really has been excellent this year.

“The College’s learners have taken part in the Christmas card design competition run by the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce for a number of years now.  It is a good opportunity for them to put their creative skills to the test to produce a design for a commercial venture.”
