17/05/2011

Upper Brown Street is welcoming folk music back to its programme of events.  The venue has a long history of hosting folk events in Leicester, and in the spirit of this tradition, Upper Brown Street is offering up two of folk’s most well known performers: Vin Garbutt on 20 May and Richard Digance on 1 July.

International Award Winning singer songwriter, Vin Garbutt is well established in the folk world.  Known for his witty and powerful song writing, he is not afraid to tackle thought provoking issues.  This combined with accomplished guitar playing and truly amazing whistle playing, make for a well rounded evening of entertainment.

In the forthcoming summer months, folk performances will be complemented by Student Shows and Performances from Leicester College’s own Performing Arts learners, showcasing the culmination of their year’s work, from a circus inspired dance performance to a production of the classic: “Lord of the Flies”, to a medley of live rock, pop, funk, soul, acoustic and electronic live music at The Big Gig.
