Mates are made offers at St Martin’s College

10/05/2011

Best friends at Leicester College, Josh Walters and James Mitchell have both secured places on Fashion courses at the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design.  The pair of BTEC National Diploma in Fashion learners recently learnt they have both been awarded places and will be starting their degrees this September.

James said: “I’ve worked hard and always wanted to get to St Martin’s because of the contacts and where it can take you.  Work placements are available all around the world, so it will give me a great insight into the industry.”

Josh has been awarded one of 10 places on the BA Honours Degree in Menswear Fashion Design course and James will be one of 25 UK learners on the BA Honours Degree in Womenswear Fashion Design.

Josh said: “I was over the moon when I found out I had been successful.  I’ve always wanted to go to St Martin’s as you are given the creative freedom to develop your ideas.  Going to Leicester College gave me the opportunity to do what I wanted to do.  It opened my eyes to what I could do and gave me the opportunity to progress and secure my place at St Martin’s.

“The news has not registered yet, it’s all quite surreal.  James and I met and became best friends at Leicester College, and we have both tried really hard, so it feels like all the hard work has paid off.”
