Music industry insiders to give tips on the trade

Leicester College is this week playing host to some of the country’s most talented composers and producers from the music industry.

Frank Benbini of Fun Lovin Criminals acclaim, Glastonbury stage manager, Steve Cheney, Bass player for the Divine Comedy, Simon Little, Producer Paul Tipler, and computer games music composer, Martin Iverson are all advising learners on Sound and Technology, Production Arts and Performing Musician  courses of their experience of the industry.

Tips about performing on a world stage will be given by local Leicester boy Frank Benbini, who having joined the Fun Lovin Criminals as their drummer in 2003, is also one half of the “Make It Nice Brothers” with Na’im Cortazzi as well as by session bassist Simon Little.  Having studied at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, Simon soon became one of the busiest session bassists in the UK with bands The Divine Comedy and Duke Special.

Ending the week, Steve Cheney will give his point of view on working in stage management at UK and overseas festivals and Martin Iverson will provoke interest speaking about working as a video game composer.  The talented artist has worked on composing music for the Tomb Raider games.

The classes will be running from 6 to 10 June 2011.
