Leicester College launches Learner Recruitment Campaign with treasure hunt ‘Geo-Cache’ style
09/08/2011
Leicester College will launch the start of its Learner Recruitment Summer 2011 Campaign in the style of ‘Geo-Caching’! ‘Geo-Caching’ is taking the world by storm – a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game where players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices.
This year Leicester College will instigate a Leicester City based treasure hunting game using facebook and twitter to prompt clues and location whereabouts accessible on mobile devices.
‘Treasure-Hunters’ will follow the Leicester College facebook page and tweets to locate items which will be displayed in landmarks and outlets around the City. Once all items have been ‘discovered’ there will be a presentation to the winner (drawn from a prize draw) at Leicester College St Margarets Campus.
The treasure hunt will compliment the theme of the Learner Recruitment Summer 2011 Campaign which focuses on three key messages:
• Looking for a new direction
• Start your career here
• Boost your skills
All of which will encompass the underlying message of “which way now”. These messages will encourage learners to enrol now on a course at Leicester College. The theme of the campaign has prominent directional arrows which lead to the enrolment at Leicester College. The treasure hunt will trigger the directional theme of ‘which way now’.
This year’s campaign builds on the college’s successful 2010 Summer Campaign which triumphed at the 2011 Higher Education Information Services Trust (HEIST) awards, winning a silver award in the ‘Best UK Student Recruitment Campaign’ category.
