08/09/2011
Leicester College has confirmed its tuition fees for UK and EU learners, studying full-time higher education courses in 2012/13 as £6,000. To help offset the impact of these fees, Leicester College will be providing scholarships for its learners.
Leicester College also delivers full time degree level courses for partner universities: De Montfort University, University of Bedfordshire and Coventry University and can confirm that these tuition fees will also be £6,000. Many of the learners studying on these partner university level courses will also benefit from access to the partner university resources eg library access, sporting, recreational and social activities.
Leicester College is a large FE College with high quality provision and currently has over 650 learners studying on degree level courses. Many Foundation Degree and Higher National courses have a key vocational relevance and are developed with and for employers to support future demand for real jobs/careers.
Leicester College is looking to build on its recent success of the Foundation Degree in Footwear with Brantano, by offering more innovative and best value courses that are designed with employers, meet regional market demand, and focus on employability at graduate level.
Assistant Principal for Higher Education Alan Jones explained: “Our fees allow us to re-invest in the quality of our courses, enabling us to deliver a cost effective alternative to study higher education with local delivery, high teaching hours and real tutor access and support. This allows our learners to have the very best learning experience.
“These new fees will be for learners beginning university level degrees from September 2012. Learners joining in 2011 will remain on the current funding and fee arrangements for the entire length of their course.”
Alan Jones added: “Leicester College anticipates that learners studying at university level will consider a range of options which will see the Higher National and Foundation Degree qualifications as a shorter, affordable and credible route to a University level qualification. As a College we are very committed to widening participation. Our excellent track record with local schools and 6th form colleges as well as with adult learners in work, enables a diverse range of learners to participate in our higher education.”
Leicester College offers a range of higher education courses including HNCs, HNDs, Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees, with a range of study options including part-time, work-based and distance / blended learning, which gives learners the opportunity to balance the cost of higher education with part time employment.
Leicester College was recently commended on the high quality of its Higher Education provision by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in a recent review which highlighted many areas of good practice including the links with employers, the quality of learning, the feedback from learners and the continuing professional development of its staff.
