Unlocking job potential in sports, catering and hospitality

28/11/2011

There are some jobs that are more fun than they are work, and Leicester College is hosting an Open Evening to introduce the general public to some of these exciting careers in sports, hospitality, catering, hair and beauty, and health and safety.

It will all be showcased at Leicester College’s Open Evening on Wednesday 7 December from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

Not only can visitors see what’s on offer but they can also participate in a range of hands-on demonstrations.

They’ll have the opportunity to get into their training gear to try out our full range of aerobic and resistance machines in our fitness studio, watch a selection of sports coaching sessions, swing to the Latin rhythms of Zumba and sway to the Bollywood ‘Just Jume’ dancercise.

Fancy becoming a barista? Then try your hand at coffee making. Other sessions will include dinner party planning, setting tables, wine tasting, and napkin folding, informal cake decoration or making bread and sweet and savoury pastries.

A vast range of courses are available with flexible start dates and times.

Claire Willis, Curriculum Area Manager for Hospitality and Leisure, says that courses are planned for small groups of 12 and that allows the College to personalise them.

“We can design a course suitable for small groups of friends and colleagues. With some courses, learners can gain a qualification in just two weeks. We also do courses that are just for fun!,” said Willis.

“Whether you are at the start of your career or simply want to develop your skills come along and have a chat with our friendly staff.”

Leicester College offers a vast range of courses in Sport and Leisure, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality and Catering, and Health and Safety. Details are available at www.leicestercollege.ac.uk/courses/.

Attendance to the Open Evening can be confirmed by calling 0116 2242240 or online. Registration is highly recommended.
