Course Overview

Architects, engineers, design drafters, and other professionals within building engineering design often use Auto CAD. Auto Cad is used along with add-on applications 3D Max and Revit to create scaled views. These are used to manage efficiently, plot design and output. CAD is used to inform and share digitally, and reuse accurate information an detailed drawings.

This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

This unit covers eight learning outcomes. At the end of the course you will be able to use CAD hardware and operating systems; identify key components of the software relating to the 2D drawing environment; use a range of viewing commands and set up the drawing space; use drawing commands to produce shapes and the software’s co-ordinate system to aid accurate drawing; and hatch, text and simple dimensioning routines.

Entry Requirements

You must be familiar and comfortable using computers.

How you will be assessed

You will undertake three practical timed assessments on the computer using Auto CAD, there will also be a written test on the function of Auto CAD.

Course and Career progression

Successful completion of this course will allow progression to the level 3 2D AutoCad course. This is an advanced level which is used to produce section and elevated views used within construction industry.
On completion of level 3 2D you can progress to level 3 3D used to produce 3D modelling.

What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
