Our academic year begins in September, and we do not have a semester system that allows overseas learners to start at any other time of the year. We accept overseas applications from January until July, and in certain circumstances we do consider late applications. It is advised to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Due to very stringent immigration rules in the UK, it sometimes takes longer to process some applications, but we endeavour to complete the procedure within a reasonable time (four weeks), assuming that all the required information is provided with the initial application.
For your information you must provide:
- A completed Leicester College application form if you are applying for NQF Level 3 (level of the course is stated against each course in our course guide). Application forms are available here at leicestercollege.ac.uk or ask the international office (+ 44 116 2244111) to send you one by post
- Copies of your academic certificates
- Copy of your passport.
You will need to have an appropriate standard of English language to be able to fully participate and gain the maximum benefit of courses.
Your IELTS (International English Language Testing System) academic result should be band 6 or above. To find out more about IELTS, and where you can take the test, visit ielts.org
If you are applying for NQF Level 5 such as a Foundation Degree or a Higher National Diploma course you must complete a UCAS application form. You can get all the relevant information from ucas.com
Once we receive your application from UCAS we will contact you to send us the required information mentioned above to process your application.
If you are offered a place you would be required to pay £1,500 deposit, to Leicester College, as soon as possible to ensure your place.
Only then will you receive the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) required to apply for the Tier 4 Student Visa.
The remainder of the fees are payable at enrolment in September.
If your visa is refused we will refund £1,250 of deposit on receipt of your visa refusal letter, otherwise the deposit is non-refundable.
Please note: under the points-based system, overseas learners are not allowed to change their initial institution without the UK Border Agency’s permission. Therefore you must start your study on time.
If you fail to enrol within 10 days of the commencement date, we are obliged to report this to the UK Border Agency in accordance with our license holder’s responsibilities.
