University Level Funding and FeesFeedback
Great Value for Money
Our University Level fees reflect the quality of our courses, enabling us to deliver a cost effective alternative to study higher education with local delivery, high teaching hours with real tutor access and support. This allows you to have the very best learning experience.
Full-time learners
Tuition fees and Financial Support
Our University Level fees allow us to offer a cost effective Higher Education experience that combines high levels of tutor contact and support with excellent specialist facilities.
Our tuition fees for UK and EU learners studying full-time university level courses in 2012/13 are £6,000 per year. This can be compared to universities, the vast majority of whom are charging fees between £7,500 and £9,000 per year. Please use these fees as guidance for the 2013/14 year. Tuition fees for courses run with partner universities (De Montfort University, University of Bedfordshire and Coventry University) will also be £6,000 for the same academic year.
If you are studying on a course awarded by one of our partner universities you will benefit from access to its resources eg library access, sporting, recreational and social activities, as well as access to these facilities at Leicester College.
If you started your course in 2011 you will remain on the current funding and fee arrangements for the entire length of your course.
Apply for your funding now
Even if you haven’t had your place confirmed, you need to apply for your Higher Education funding. You can apply for your tuition fees loan, maintenance loans, grants and bursaries all on one form. Apply now at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. You will also find a student finance calculator to provide an estimate of what you may be entitled to and what you may have to repay.
If you are eligible, you will be able to apply for a “Student Loan for Fees”. This means that fees will be paid directly to the College on your behalf. This loan has to be repaid after you leave your course and when your earnings are more than £21,000. For more information please visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance
Grants
Full-time learners will be able to apply for a non-repayable maintenance grant of up to approximately £3,250 (figure for 2012/13). How much you receive will depend on your income and that of your household. If it is around £25,000 or less you are likely to be eligible for a full grant of around £3,250. Partial grants are likely to be available for those with a household income of between £25,000 and £42,600. These grants will be paid in three instalments – one at the beginning of each term.
You will need to apply to Student Finance England for assessment of your entitlement to a maintenance grant, maintenance loan and tuition fee loan. You can access all the information you need from www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. At Leicester College we have a small Access to Learning Fund which is designed to help university level learners who are most in need of financial help. Learners who may qualify for this fund MUST have already applied to Student Finance England for their full level of funding. It is important to see one of our Welfare Advisors for more information regarding this fund.

You could be eligible for a £1,000 reduction in your tuition fee for each year of your course.
Leicester College’s bursary offers £1,000 a year to any learner who achieves BTEC level 3 DDD (triple distinction), A2 level AAB grades (or HEFCE approved equivalent) or higher in their studies. This tuition fee is dependent on the number of module credits delivered each year. This compares favourably with many universities fees. Please use these fees as guidance for the 2013/14 year.
Tuition fees for courses run with partner universities (De Montfort University, University of Bedfordshire and Coventry University) will also range from £1,400 to £2,800 for each year of the course.
