Wendy Vimbai Pakarimwa - Foundation Degree in Children, Families and Health Communities

Wendy Vimbai Pakarimwa -
Foundation Degree in Children, Families and Health Communities

Wendy attended secondary school in Zimbabwe, but continued her studies in Halifax, West Yorkshire, from 2002 taking an NVQ level 2 and 3 in Care, Access to Health Promotions, a BTEC Diploma in Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in HIV and AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. She did this whilst volunteering at Sure Start and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Working with children and families as a volunteer motivated her to take the Foundation Degree. In the future she would like to work for UNICEF all over the world with children and families.

She said: "From working with families I had gained a few skills and wanted to achieve more knowledge and be a qualified children and family worker. I am able to support families in a professional manner, do assessments and train new volunteers. I have confidence and can approach people with different issues with no fear."
