Child Protection

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

The College is committed to ensuring that it:

  • provides a safe environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults to learn in
  • identifies children, young people and vulnerable adults who are suffering, or likely to suffer harm, and takes appropriate action to see that such children, young people and vulnerable adults are kept safe, both at home and at the College.

In order to achieve this the College undertakes a range of activities, reviewed annually by the governors.

These include:

  • the safe recruitment of staff including Criminal Record Bureau checks and other relevant pre-employment checks of all staff who come into contact with children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • regular staff training
  • the establishment of a team of child protection specialists
  • a clear process for reporting cases of suspected abuse.

The College's Policy and Procedures for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults is available on request. The lead manager for child protection is the Vice Principal for Quality, Students and Staff.

Bullying and Harassment

Bullying or harassment of any kind is unacceptable at Leicester College. We seek to provide a safe and secure environment in which all learners can work together harmoniously. If you or anyone you know is being bullied, please report it to a member of staff. This can be:
  • Reception/Information Centre Staff on 0116 224 2240
  • your personal tutor or any of your teachers
  • a Fair Treatment Adviser (independent staff members who are there to offer you advice and support).
  • ask your tutor or the Information Centre for their details.
  • member of the Student Liaison Team
  • a member of the Student Union Executive, if you would rather talk to another student.

All the College policies on equal opportunities, anti-bullying and diversity are on our College website.
