Leicester College celebrate success in bid for the former Phoenix building |

Performing Arts learners at Leicester College have a new city-centre venue to show off their talents. The College welcomed the announcement from Leicester City Council that they have been selected to take over the former Phoenix Arts venue as part of a five-year lease, which is great news for those interested in a career in Performing Arts. The venue will give the learners the ideal real-life experience of performing in front of a live audience. The College, which has recently been awarded the National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills (NSA) Founder College status, will use this opportunity to work with the Alliance of Music Promoters Leicester in providing administrative, marketing, box office, front of house, and technical support. This will be delivered by young people on advanced training programmes managed by experienced professionals. Andy Wright from the Alliance of Music Promoters and ex Charlotte promoter said, “We welcome the unique opportunity to support young Leicester musicians by working with the NSA and providing a professional platform for performance.” Deane McQueen, Project Manager at Leicester College, said: “The College has a long and successful history in this centre and the opportunity to deliver professional training as part of a working venue is the perfect approach to learners’ employability.” |
