Leicester College is awarded Apprenticeship funding |

A brand new governmental initiative will boost apprenticeship employment in Leicestershire. Leicester College has been awarded funding to deliver public sector apprenticeships via an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA). Part of this arrangement will see the College employing the Apprentices directly and paying their wages and then hiring out the apprentices to host employers. As well as giving young people a route to a range of public sector roles in schools, children’s services and local authorities, employers will have the chance to try an apprentice without the perceived cost of recruitment. The Apprentice can also gain an Apprenticeship level 2 or Advanced Apprenticeship level 3 qualification in Business Administration, IT, Childcare, Customer Service, Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, Health and Social Care, Construction, Engineering, Housing or Marketing or other Apprenticeships frameworks that will match to job roles in the public sector. Maggie Galliers, Leicester College Principal said: “We are pleased to be able to add to our apprenticeship offer through this route. The skills and expertise Apprentices bring to the businesses is vital to the local and wider economy.” Karen Woodward, Regional Director - Apprenticeships East Midlands said: “The National Apprenticeship Service is dedicated to adopting innovative approaches as we increase our employer engagement across the East Midlands. Apprenticeships are the optimal way of training and developing people for the future and this new model, delivered by Leicester College, will play a vital part in ensuring a high quality, flexible provision can be delivered to support Apprenticeship across the Public Sector in Leicestershire.” |
