Christine Simmons - Customer Services Advisor

Customer Services Advisor

Christine Simmons has worked as a Customer Services Advisor in the Customer Service Centre since it opened in September 2008. Here she handles incoming and outgoing phone calls, and gives course advice. She started working on reception at the College campuses for two years before that. Since taking the role in the Customer Service Centre, Christine has had the opportunity to take the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) course at Leicester College in February 2009. She became the first person to complete the new course in August 2009.

She says, “I decided that taking this course was a good chance to prove my capability and that reaching the age of sixty was no barrier to getting a qualification. I enjoy working in the Customer Service Centre because each call is so different and the IAG course has helped me to be more aware of the role I play within the department. I am much more aware now of how I deal with calls and how I can find out more to help people, and I carry on learning every day. There’s now no reason why I can’t continue to study and gain my NVQ3 qualification.”
