Vice Principal, Quality and PlanningDr Don Brooks was appointed as Vice Principal Quality and Planning in July 2009. He was previously Vice Principal Resources and Engagement at Grantham College. Prior to this he held senior management posts at North Lindsey College and the Defence College of Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Don began his career teaching mathematics and PE before becoming an officer in the Royal Air Force through the 1980s. Following a period in industry, Don returned to education in 1992 and has extensive experience of secondary, further and higher education. Don is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute for Learning, and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. In addition to holding an engineering degree and a PGCE, he is a graduate of the Open University gaining a BA degree in 1985, an MA in Education (Leadership and Management) in 1995 and a Doctorate in Education in 2001. A keen sportsman, Don competed in the 1986 World Triathlon Championships and has coached athletes of all ages to local, regional and national honours. He was a team manager and coach for the South of England Athletics Association from 1996 to 2002. His interests are his family, sport, DIY, learning to play the banjo and supporting Queens Park Rangers FC. |
