Engineering

Careers in engineering are very important for the UK to achieve its place in the world economy and engineers are one of the most sought-after employees in the UK. The sector faces a constant challenge in updating skills to create and sustain a competitive workforce, as the ageing workforce of the engineering industry has been identified as a potential problem. Skills are transferable throughout the world and can cover anything from mechanical and motor vehicle to electronic engineering.

We have a tradition of excellence in training for the engineering industry and are an Engineering and Marine Training Authority (EMTA) approved training and assessment centre. We are able to provide the vocational training required both in College and tailored to you and delivered in your workplace.

Myles Ball is the Managing Director of Tower Tools Company Limited, a precision engineering company based in South Wigston.

He said: “Leicester College is our number one choice for training. We have tried other colleges but our experience has not been as good. Leicester College has a good reputation for engineering training and its ability to deliver what we need is why we continue to use it. I have experienced Leicester College training myself having completed AutoCAD training. We really appreciate Leicester College and the staff there have helped a lot.”

Steve Potter, a previous Apprentice of the Year at Leicester College, said:

“The training gave me the skills and knowledge about the technical side of engineering that I could then bring back and apply to my job. I enjoyed the training. The tutors were helpful and supportive and I would recommend training with Leicester College to others.”
