Henry Bwaila - Professional Development Diploma: Footwear

A career change from nursing to footwear design evolved for Henry Bwaila from an interest in drawing shoes. People saw the drawings and told him they were good and that he should consider it as a career. Henry visited Leicester College and decided the Professional Development Diploma in Footwear was the course for him. He now studies full-time while working as a nurse at weekends on a contractual basis.

He says: “Since starting the course I’ve learnt new skills in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, embroidery, and in making shoes. Footwear design and development is something I’ve found I am quite good at and I’d like to start my own brand in the future.”
