Getting a Bank Account

Ideally you should open a bank account with a worldwide bank before leaving your home country. If you don’t, Leicester College has set up a special scheme with Barclays Bank in Leicester city centre. If you want to take advantage of this scheme please contact the International Office for more details.

You can choose whichever bank you want and a number of UK banks offer student accounts. You must ensure you have the correct documentation as you may experience some difficulties in setting up your account.

We recognise that our students from the Islamic faith may require the services of banks and financial institutions which provide Sharia’a compliant retail banking products and services, as set down in Islamic teachings. There are a number of locally established banks and financial institutions which provide this service and further information is available from the International Office at Leicester College.
