Leadership and Management

Good management of an organisation has untold benefits. It gives a business direction and focus resulting in enhanced staff motivation, confidence and performance, which all have a positive impact on profitability. Bad management, however can foster a bad atmosphere, leave staff feeling exposed and can lead to problems.

Good leadership and management can be the difference between success and failure. A knowledge of management techniques and theories will ensure an immediate impact on effectiveness, productivity and profits.

Train staff to become managers and train managers to become better leaders. The training we offer is available to fit busy schedules, and can be tailored to work with the needs of any business.

Walkers Midshire Foods

Food manufacturing specialist Walkers Midshire Foods, a division of Samworth Brothers, has seen growing success which has resulted in the company doubling its number of staff. The company’s reputation is built on people, quality and profit. The company identified a specific requirement for training to help newly-appointed team leaders. Leicester College worked with Walkers Midshire Foods on a tailored team leader development programme with a specific focus on filling the skills gaps. The result was the level 3 Introductory certificate in First Line Management. The programme covered leadership, communication process, problem solving skills and motivation.

Rebecca Bateman, personnel officer at Walkers Midshire Foods, said: “Working with Leicester College has meant we have been able to design a programme exactly to our training needs. Our first group have just completed their programme and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You can see that they are all more confident. They all did a work-based assignment – some of which has been implemented into the business with huge savings being made. We are very proud of all of the hard work which Leicester College and our delegates have put into the programme and we are looking forward to running many more in the future.”
