Programme Leader
(Caring Professions)

As well as being Programme Leader for Foundation Degree Children, Families and Community Health and HND Advanced Practice Working with Children and Families, Sue has competed in the finals of the Horse of the Year Show and featured as Miss February in the Carriage Driving Magazine calendar in her spare time.

Working in the Oral Health programme, Sue joined Leicester College in 2002 before starting her current role two and a half years ago. This involves liaising with De Montfort University, co-ordinating staff, delivery of the programme and administration.Horse of the Year

Sue started driving ponies at double harness and scurrying when a back injury in 2000 stopped her riding, an interest she has had since childhood. Two of her five ponies, Salt and Pepper saw Sue through to 7th position overall for scurry driving in the week during the Horse of the Year Show. She has also qualified for three national championships and competed in major county shows around the country.

She said: "I enjoy working with the university as well as the learner contact. It’s a nice broad mix and it helps keep me busy. I enjoy the adrenalin rush of driving. I'm part of the Osbourne Scurry Group and we compete against each other but also get on fantastically." In the future Sue would like to help develop the curriculum for the HE provision and oral health provision.
