A team of dedicated Welfare Advisers are available on all of our campuses to offer free and impartial advice on a number of areas including benefits, finances, travel, living accommodation and other welfare issues. Welfare Advisers are on-hand five days a week, to help you access financial support and provide the correct advice.
We provide:
- advice on how to access funding and eligibility criteria
- help with managing finances
- advice on the best ways of increasing income
- help with accessing extra financial support if financial difficulty is experienced.
The main funds for Further Education (FE) learners include:
- Learner Support Fund (formerly the Access Fund)
- College Support Fund
- Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) for learners aged 16 to 18 years
- Adult Learning Grant (ALG) for learners aged 19 to retirement
- Care to Learn for learners who are single parents under 20 years old.
For Higher Education (HE) we can provide information about:
- loans and grants
- Access to Learning Fund
- tuition fees
- Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)
- Bursaries
- financial support for part-time HE learners.
